Payokumbuah, spelled "Payakumbuh" in Indonesian, is the second largest city in West Sumatra. With an estimated population of 136,837 in 2019, it is the biggest city in the highlands. It means "grassy swamp" in Minangkabau. The city is also now the center for saluang.
