There is a long and elaborate story about how this nagari got its name, the short version of which is a young boy of minimal means who largely foraged caught a snake. His mother cooked it. He kept exclaiming "lamak!" (it's delicious). Upon hearing him exclaim this, neighbors came by to try some, asking for a tiny slice of the meat. Sarilamak is an abbreviation of "a slice of the deliciousness." https://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarilamak,_Harau,_Lima_Puluh_Kota
