Term: Raun saluang

A "raun saluang" is a long saluang interlude typically found only between whole verses or melodic cycles. It establishes the rhythm of the song.  Literally the term means "a saluang tour."

Their use is at the discretion of the saluang player. As in the following example of "Pariaman Panjang" where the singer didn't enter straight away, so the saluang filled in with a raun.
